Steamed Broccoli with Almonds
1 large bunch broccoli
3 TBS melted butter
1 TBS lemon juice
1/4 C slivered almonds, browned in butter
Wash broccoli; remove the coarse leaves and slice the lower stalks. Place on steamer rack over hot water and steam six minutes, just until tender (or use a product steamer). Mix two tablespoons melted butter and lemon juice in a small bowl. In a saucepan, melt the remaining butter and add slivered almonds; cook on medium-low heat for about eight minutes, stirring often, or until the almonds begin to brown. Remove broccoli to a warm serving plate; pour the melted butter mixed with lemon juice on top. Sprinkle with chives and browned almond slivers.
