The Main Meal

Turkey is the norm for Thanksgiving Day, but there are those who prefer to interchange with ham or duck. Keep in mind vegetarians will not be eating meat on Thanksgiving, yet their varied recipes can be just as delicious.

Years ago, I knew a family who served a giant platter of spaghetti and meatballs along with their Thanksgiving turkey. I never did take to the particular ritual, but the point is each family has its own traditions, some of which have been handed down for generations.

The holiday season is mostly about giving thanks, but to me it is also a time to celebrate our differences and to honor our individual heritage whether we spring from America or not.
